Your walls can serve a crucial purpose-- to beautify, enhance, and promote your goods. Like the background of a painting, photograph, or theatrical play, your walls are there to bring every element of your booth together in harmony—to tell a story—to bring your vision to life.

I remember moving into my very first antique booth many years ago and staring at 3 blank white walls. I felt like an artist gazing at a blank canvas—SO excited to show the world what was inside my mind—my dreams—my aspirations—my very own small business!

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the countless hours that I spent searching Google, Pinterest, and Instagram for design ideas for antique booth walls. Fortunately, I am someone who loves research (and interior design!!) and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I also understand that not everyone has the patience or the time to search all over the place for ideas! Or they just need some ideas to get the creative juices flowing. And, if you are like me, you are really excited and ready to get started on your booth!

So, I’m hoping that this list of ideas for antique booth walls will help somebody out there who is planning their first booth design or thinking about a decorative transformation.

I want to share some of my favorite design ideas for antique booth walls with you. I hope that you will find something here to inspire you to create a booth that you will love—and that will ultimately bring you great success and sales!

The most important point to keep in mind regarding your antique booth walls is that they should represent and showcase your unique brand and style. The ultimate goal is to draw attention to your products. Think of your walls as the back-up dancers or singers, while your merchandise is the main act.

I should probably mention here that I know that not every antique mall booth even has walls. Some have half-walls. Some do not have partitions at all. Even if you don’t have walls, you can create your own walls or “room-dividers” if you want to. Keep that in mind as you read through this list of ideas for antique booth walls.

Paint

I have seen many beautifully painted antique booth walls in my years of antiquing, but this is hands-down one of the most appealing walls that I have ever seen. The paint color (my favorite color, by the way) really draws attention to the pristine white milk glass. The solid blue color brings out the beaded texture and fine detail in each gorgeous piece.

If you are considering painting your antique booth walls, consider a color that will have high-contrast to your merchandise. In other words, dark and light colors or those on the opposite ends of the color wheel. Painting is one of the most effective and inexpensive ways to transform your booth into an image of aesthetic beauty and functionality!

Pegboard

When it comes to function and versatility, pegboard simply can’t be beat. Retailers everywhere—from the big box stores to the mom-and-pops—merchandise their goods on pegboard. There are shelves, baskets, and hooks of all shapes and sizes—made especially for pegboard, so moving merchandise around is neat and convenient.

For example, when I sell a painting, it is so easy to fill in the gap and rearrange my design simply by moving hooks around from one hole to another. There is never any need for a hammer and nails or anchors and screws, and there are no messy drywall holes to putty.

Chalkboard

Oh my goodness, I saw this idea and got so excited about all the possibilities for a chalkboard wall—like writing messages to customers (we booth dealers do not often get to see our customers, since we are not in our booths every day…so it would be awesome to have a fun way to communicate with them!), OR showcasing products (see the photo below where the dealer wrote, “Look!”), OR advertising sales and promotions (“Welcome back to school,” or “Happy Holidays!”).

And, do you want to hear my most exciting epiphany? Wait for it... CHALKBOARD PAINT ON A PEGBOARD WALL!!! It’s the perfect trifecta of the first three ideas—paint, pegboard, and chalkboard!!!! Go crazy, folks, go crazy!!!

Fabric

I have seen many dealers hang fabric in their booths, either on top of a wall or as a room-divider/partition between booths. Some of my favorite fabrics for booths are burlap and muslin.

Burlap’s natural, neutral look especially compliments booths with a farmhouse or rustic brand. Another nice thing about this fabric that it is easy to work with--I hung it in one of my booths like wallpaper, by stapling the corners with a staple gun.

You can also lay burlap over the top of pegboard—since the fibers are porous, you can poke your hooks and fixtures right through it without it ripping or tearing. If you look closely at the photograph, you can see the hooks poking right through the burlap—into the pegboard.

Muslin is also a wonderful fabric for antique booth walls and room-dividers. I was once a professional portrait photographer, and muslin was my fabric of choice for backgrounds because it drapes and hangs so nicely. This beautiful antique booth is a stunning example of how you can use muslins and other fabrics to create walls and divide spaces.

Wood

Oh the possibilities for creative wooden wall designs! I have seen many dealers build their own walls out of wood, and I have built a few of my own. In this booth, I worked with a pre-existing half wall to build up an additional area to hang art.

This dealer created a brilliant backdrop for their rental space using distressed old doors!

 Got any old wood pallets laying around? Here’s an awesome idea for an antique booth wall! And, you can even hang merchandise on the slats!

Miscellaneous

There are so many ideas for walls out there that I had to make a category for “miscellaneous.” And I bet you have ideas that I haven’t even thought about. If you do, I’d love to hear about them!

This is another wonderful idea—create a wall by stacking old crates like this. It’s easy, inexpensive, a great way to recycle, and it even gives you functional shelving!

I found these walls made from corrugated metal. This would be awesome as a backdrop—especially for those of you with a vintage, rusty, chippy brand.

Many dealers utilize lattice on their walls. Lattice is great because, like pegboard, you can hang items with hooks, and move them around, without putting holes in your walls. Lattice is also pretty and interesting to look at. And you guessed it – it can be painted!
